Although I am year 13 now and no longer doing this unit, i remember we did DAB Radio, and thought I'd tell you about a new digital radio thing which I was unaware of last year that might be a good example for something. There's this website called www.last.fm and it "scrobbles" what ever you play on your itunes/windows media and then lists things like your most listened artists/songs and thenonce you've listened to enough music it can recommend artists it thinks you might like and eventually makes up a radio station with artists you may like.

Sounds cool - thanks Alex. More evidence of 'personalisation' still being a huge NMT buzzword. Filtering and recommendation software is becoming better and better and increasingly important as access to content continues to grow. What about institutions paying to get their recommendations to the top of peoples' lists?
We shall be sure to get some students to investigate when we start the unit...
