YouTube going commercial

Click here to read the BBC article about the latest moves to place ads on YouTube with the idea being to share some of the revenue to those who post the most popular videos.
Since google bought YouTube back in October 2006 many predicted this move to placing ads on the most popular video posting site on the net. Why else would google spend 1.65 billion dollars buying something that makes no money?
