PS3 - Is it the console to beat?

Read this article for a detailed analysis of why the PS3 may be in the best position to dominate the lucrative games market in the years to come. Remember, it's not just the games but the new format wars of Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD. Who is winning the battle? Which format would you rather have and why? Your comments...

Well, guess someone's got to comment... I personally prefer PS3 over the other available consoles (brand loyalty), but I won't be getting one just yet. Why? Not just cus it's ridiculously expensive, but there's no killer games for it yet. If other people think like me ("I'll get it when Metal gear solid 4 or whatever comes out"), PS3 could hit some trouble. Also, Sony have been really arrogant about the European console's backwards compatability. Basically, they've skimped on this version's emulating abilities, meaning problems with PS2 and PS1 games could result, then pretended no-one will mind. Except all the people who want to play all their Playstation games on one machine... like everyone.
Sorry, rant over.

No need to apologise Jon of Rose - this is an excellent example of how audiences get frustrated with the insulting placations of media institutions who don't see the bigger picture or who simply refuse to listen to the wishes of their 'customers'.
Strange, as Sony was very careful in the development of the PS2 to make sure it was backwards compatible.
You are not alone though Jon - even the Japanese version is not fully backwards compatible.

Don't worry, I'm sure that killer app/console seller is just around the corner. Fingers crossed.
